Permitted Paid Engagement

The Permitted Paid Engagement or Event (PPE) is one of the purposes for which a visitor can come to the UK on a standard visitor visa and be paid for their time.

Diamond can pay visitors for certain specific activities that they provide, but only if the engagement or event was carried out within the first month of arriving in the UK on a standard visitor visa. Anything exceeding this period will have to go through the Skilled Worker or Temporary Worker routes. Please also note that payment for services does not mean accommodation, transport or subsistence fees.

The following are permitted paid engagements where individuals may be invited by Diamond for PPE purposes to:

• Examine or assess students, or chair or take part in selection panels as a highly qualified academic;
• Give lectures in their subject area;
• Speak at a conference or seminar.
