why

Why choose Diamond's crystallisation facilities for your research?

Diamond offers a unique and comprehensive ecosystem for the life science community, providing a wide range of opportunities on a single site. The Crystallisation Facility (CF), which includes the Membrane Protein Lab (MPL), provides an essential service for industrial clients, facilitating protein crystallisation and crystal harvesting for X-ray structural analysis.

The MPL is a leading research and training hub, dedicated to supporting scientists in membrane protein biology and structural biology. Our Industrial Liaison team and MPL experts offer guidance in protein purification, sample characterisation, pre-crystallisation screening, and crystallisation using advanced methods like lipidic cubic phase and vapour diffusion.

Aligned with the Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) and Cryo-electron microscopy (eBIC) facilities, the CF and MPL provide a complete structural biology pipeline, from data collection to structural analysis. Uniquely co-located with the synchrotron and eBIC, the MPL enhances the integrated structural biology services available to industrial users.

Our crystallisation services are ideal for start-ups, eliminating the need for significant upfront investment in equipment and expertise. They also support clients expanding into membrane protein research and busy pharmaceutical or biotech teams needing additional resources.

We prioritise confidentiality and data security for all our industrial clients, implementing stringent measures to ensure your data is securely stored and managed.
